Specialist Gottman Method Couples Therapy with Amanda Sacco
I am a Certified Gottman Therapist and Clinical Member of PACFA, specialising in couples therapy and relationship difficulties.
I provide Gottman Method Couples Therapy in Wangaratta and North East Victoria, with online couples counselling available across Victoria.
The Gottman Method provides a structured, research-based framework for understanding relationship patterns, managing conflict, strengthening friendship and intimacy, and rebuilding connection.
As a Certified Gottman Therapist, I have completed the full Gottman clinical training and certification pathway, including advanced consultation and formal assessment of my clinical work.
Becoming a Certified Gottman Therapist involves considerably more than completing Gottman training workshops.
Following completion of the Gottman clinical training pathway, certification involves consultation with an approved Gottman consultant, clinical experience working with couples, and formal assessment of recorded therapy sessions demonstrating competency in Gottman Method interventions.
Certification means that a therapist has not only studied the Gottman Method, but has also demonstrated competency in applying the approach in clinical practice.
Levels 1, 2 and 3 provide progressively advanced professional training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Certification is a further process undertaken after this training and involves consultation, clinical practice and assessment of the therapist's application of Gottman interventions with couples.
As a Certified Gottman Therapist, I have completed this full certification pathway.
Couples seek therapy for many different reasons. Gottman Method Couples Therapy provides a structured framework for understanding and working with relationship difficulties including:
• recurring conflict and communication difficulties
• emotional disconnection
• friendship and intimacy
• trust difficulties
• affairs, infidelity and betrayal
• differences in values, priorities and life goals
• emotional flooding during conflict
• strengthening connection during periods of stress or transition
Therapy is tailored to the needs of each relationship rather than following the same program for every couple.
I have completed additional Gottman specialised training in Treating Affairs & Trauma and work with couples following affairs, infidelity and relationship betrayal.
Support is available through ongoing couples counselling or, for couples seeking concentrated support, a private Affair & Betrayal Recovery Couples Intensive.
Therapy does not assume that a couple must remain together. It provides a structured space to understand what has happened, address emotional safety and trust, and explore what each partner needs moving forward.
I provide in-person Gottman Method Couples Therapy in Wangaratta, supporting couples from across North East Victoria, including Albury-Wodonga, Bright, Beechworth and surrounding areas.
Online couples counselling is also available for couples throughout Victoria.
Private couples therapy intensives are available for couples who prefer concentrated therapeutic work and may also suit couples travelling from elsewhere in Victoria or interstate.
